Cow slips (Primula veris) 

This member of the primrose family gets it's name from a mispronunciation of cow slop, growing in open meadows the flower has taken it's name from the less far less pleasant cow pats which often surround them.

Both the flowers and leaves of this plant are edible. The leaves have a slight citrus flavour and are used in Spanish cuisine.
